The craziest thing happened yesterday. I was putting my jeans on and as I started to slide my leg into my jeans I felt something fuzzy and just as I’m retracting my leg (in a huge hurry) I see a mouse scurry across the floor! Yes, that little mouse was in the leg of my jeans!!! I’m telling you, the craziest things always seem to happen to me! I had my jeans sitting on as I usually pick my clothing out the night before. Well, my cat had been sort of going crazy through the night, and I figured he had found a mouse and was chasing it through the house. When I woke up in the morning the cat was sitting in my closet upstairs like he was guarding the corner. I assumed he had the mouse pinned in there somewhere or that he had already gotten it and was just resting. Boy was I wrong! Can you believe that my hubby actually carried my jeans ALL the way downstairs for me and set them on the bathroom counter? I mean really, what are the odds that a mouse would stay in for the whole ride down the steps? Crazy! I am happy to say though that the mouse is no longer in my house! I sure as heck wasn’t going to let him get into any of my other clothes!
To give you an idea of some of the crazy things that have happened here are…
Shortly after we first moved in the boys had a downstairs bedroom at the time and they were playing in their bedroom. They heard a noise and came running to me. At first I thought they had just heard an animal outside or something until I pulled the blinds back and saw there was a very large squirrel stuck in their window between the screen and the window! Seriously, again, what are the odds? Evidently the outside cat that kept coming around had chased the squirrel. That poor squirrel was so scared it just leaped and must have grabbed the screen just right with its claws because it tore right though and was stuck! It took us a while to get it out because we didn’t want to get to close to it for fear that it may attack.
Another time there was a raccoon in our gutter on the roof of our house. It was just kind of hanging out there. One of the boys was going outside and noticed it right away. He came running back into the house hollering about their newest pet! I was so glad he noticed it and came back into the house before going any closer to it! There was definitely something wrong with that raccoon. After much work we managed to get the raccoon out without anyone getting harmed.
We have had bats flying through the house, which is probably the worst for me. However, we had a new roof put on earlier this year and had some spots in the eaves covered, so I think we are good now. I sure hope so! We were watching the super bowl earlier this year, the game was almost over and all of a sudden a bat came swooping into the living room over our heads! I was so glad the kids were in bed already because I knew they would have been scared! My hubby was able to get it, but it took quite a while and he missed the end of the super bowl.
We have also had birds in our stove and chimney, but those are probably more common than any of the other things I have talked about.
As for the frogs the boys brought home both of them have croaked (pun intended, however not very funny since the boys were really upset.) However, we do still have the frog that my 6 year old was given for his birthday. 🙂
