That’s right, you heard me correctly.
What makes me a Totally Desperate Mom(TDM)?
Let me start by saying that I wake in the morning by shielding myself from a dozen Nerf bullets that are flying past my head like little missiles! (Yep, every morning, this is how the boys wake me!)
As a matter of fact, their Grandfather told them the other day that they should be careful not to lose their bullets, the boys quickly replied that they have plenty and know where they are, and that is when I chimed in, “Yeah, under my pillow!”
I have wiped snot with my hands and then continued to wipe it on my jeans without thinking twice.
I have stuck my fingers in my mouth, turned around and then either wiped my child’s face or combed their hair down with the same finger that was just in my mouth. (Yep, you know you have too!)
I have tripped over toys while chasing after a bad guy in my super hero cape! (What, you think that’s weird? Not in my house!)
I could go on and on, but if you have been reading my blog long (oh heck, or if you have even just started to read my blog, then you already know all that I have done, or at least the stuff that makes it to my blog.) I would say that qualifies me as a TDM.
I was recently able to actually sit down and read a book that I have had sitting here for (at least) a few months. The book was written by Wendy Hagen, a Totally Desperate Mom of 3 young children.
I am sure that by now you can probably guess the title of the book, but if not, I’ll tell you…
Totally Desperate Mom!
What a great name for a book, right!?
I totally would have picked this book up off of the shelf, and I would probably have purchased it just because of the title. This was a very easy read. I know it took me forever to get to the book (I have 5 boys, what do you expect!?) But, once I started reading the book I really didn’t put it down.
The first chapter really will get you hooked. It’s quite funny and let me just say it includes hemmies. Don’t know what hemmies are? You really must NOT have children! Or, maybe you are one of those lucky ones, or you are just in denial…he he!
In the book Wendy talks about pregnancy, birth, raising children, temper-tantrums, melt-downs, and pretty much everything in between. I laughed a lot while reading this book. My husband would look over at me and say, What now? Of course, I would have to read him a part from the book, but he never found it near as funny as I did. I guess that is probably because he is NOT a Totally Desperate Mom.
If you don’t read any other book this year I would highly recommend you read Totally Desperate Mom. I know, your life is busy, you are already going crazy, but that is even more reason to read the book. You need to be reassured that you are not the only one, right? Or are you a first time Mom who needs to know what to expect? Know someone that you think is a Totally Desperate Mom (TDM)? You should purchase the book for them!
I’m not joking people!
Love this book!
