As most of you already know, I’m on a mission to get healthy. Not just for me, but for my whole family. We are going to be eating better and exercising as a “team”. Now I have 5 boys and with boys come a bit of competitiveness, so we have announced to them that we are going to be a team and we are all going to need to use team work to get our family into shape.
We live in Ohio and were very inspired when we heard about the Ohio CycleWorks bike team, sponsored by FedEx Custom Critical. They will be participating in this year’s Race Across America (RAAM). This isn’t just any old race, it’s the “World’s Toughest Bicycle Race,” RAAM is one of the longest running sporting events in the world! The cool thing is that we are able to follow the riders closely while they take their journey!
How, you ask?
With FedEx SenseAware!
Here is how it works, the Ohio CycleWorks team member, Scott Garchar (board member of Ohio CycleWorks Charities) is equipped with a FedEx SenseAware device. This device will travel with Scott and the team throughout the entire race. The device is linked to a web-based platform enabling us to track near real-time GPS location and environmental conditions as they journey from Oceanside, California through Annapolis, Maryland. With SenseAware customers can stay connected to their shipments by viewing vital statistics such as current location, temperature, barometric pressure, relative humidity and light sensitivity.
Not only are the team working to get healthy themselves, but they are racing for a great cause! The Ohio CycleWorks bike team is raising money for the Akron Children’s Hospital. FedEx Custom Critical is happy to be a proud supporter of the Akron Children’s Hospital and the Ohio CycleWorks team.
Not only is SenseAware perfect for this event, but it’s also perfect for healthcare providers. SenseAware allows providers to monitor critical shipments, the kind that can save the lives of their patients.
