Umm, yes I just titled my post, “Where’s my bon bon?” Seriously though, if anyone has the answer to that question, I would love to know! Over the years I have heard many descriptions of what people envision a stay at home mother does with her time. Some of these things include, but are not limited to…
Watching Soap Operas
Getting their Hair and Nails Done
Napping
….and Eating Bon Bons
*sigh*
The truth is…
My television is always set on the cartoon channel. As a matter of fact, I have no idea if we really even get any other channels. Why can’t they just sell us the cartoon package? That would save so much money, wouldn’t it?
Sadly I haven’t had my hair done in months and my nails…well, let’s just say they need help. I haven’t had my nails done since high school—I kid you not!
Naps, could someone please explain those to me? From what I hear they sound quite nice, and I know I’m just missing out.
And Bon Bons…If I even attempted to eat a bon bon my children would have it out of my hands and devoured so quickly I wouldn’t even know what happened. That’s right, mothers must hide the treats and wait until the kids are in bed to eat them, or they get no treats at all.
So, the next time you think about the job of a stay at home mom, just remember that she doesn’t really have time for any of those things you might think she’s at home doing.

I love how your bonbon post has your weight-loss posts listed as the “related” ones.
Forget bonbons, some days I’m lucky if I get around to eating lunch at all!

You are so right! My late husband came home unexpectedly from work one morning about 830 a.m. and entered the house and was surprised to find me emersed in meatball mix up half way to my elbows, neighbor child and god daughter visiting surrounded by toy mess, our child working. A preschool craft lesson at the table, yes cartoons in the television and cleaning completed with the exception of the current cooking amd child mess. He expected that we would by sleeping in or relaxing our days away. There must have been a magical fairy that made home cooked meals, cared for our child and cleaned our home during my relaxing days. It’s true many people think housewives/homemakers/Mother’s have wonderful lazy days. Sorry but I’m witb you, where’s my Bon Bons?

This post is 100% true. A working friend of mine recently posted something along the lines of “I wish I could stay at home, crafting all day, catching up on shows, and doing yoga.” I can’t believe she seriously thinks that’s what we do!
