Why My Family Uses a Water Softening System

why my family

We have lived in the country pretty much our whole lives. While I love living in the country, there is one thing that I do not love—hard water. If you’ve always lived inside the city limits you may have no idea what I’m talking about, but our water is so bad that it turns our toilets an ugly orange rusty color as well as showers, sinks and even hair! Yes, it’s THAT bad!

That is exactly why my husband and I chose to install a good water softening system into our home when we bought it. There was no way we were going to get by with rusty. The water softener was one of (if not THE) best investment we have made in our home over the years.

Have YOU ever noticed that your dishes are spotty or you have build up in your shower? Maybe your laundry feels like sandpaper at times or your hair is feeling dry and the color is starting to orange? If you answered yes to these questions than it is possible that you have hard water in your home.

What is Hard Water?

As rainwater passes through the earth and into other means of water, it picks up certain hardness materials that will precipitate and clog pipes. This could also damage your appliances as well. We don’t want this happening since appliances are on the list of more expensive items homeowners invest in.

You can visit Morton Salt and fill out a form to find out if you have hard water in your home. They will send you a free water test strip to determine if you have any hard water issues. It’s free and easy, and could save you a lot of money in the future!

We received a coupon for a few free bags of Morton Water Softening Salt. I was pretty pleased with this because we have already used and love Morton Water Softening Salt products! They are super easy to open and load into our softener and they work great at getting the hard rust build up out of our water.Β  When we use a good softening salt, such as Morton Water Softening Salt, we go through less soap for washing dishes and clothing—even when washing our hair and body! We also go through less cleaning supplies because there aren’t harsh stains in our tub, sinks and toilets—and our appliances. It may have been an investment to put the water softener in, but it was one of the best investments we could have put into our home. It has more than paid for itself and is saving us money! I no longer have toΒ  have my hair stripped at the salon and we can wear light colored clothing again without worrying that it may be rust stained!

Are you interested in getting soft water in your home? A water softener is the way to go and is based on simple chemistry to make it happen! It’s one of the best investments you can make as a homeowner—I promise!

A water softener can be so wonderful. We used to have hard water, and it was hideous. My body always felt weird and tacky, and our clothes never got clean.

It’s awful, isn’t it! Not to mention all of the extra money we have to spend to get the rust out of our hair! πŸ™
So glad we have a water softener now!

If you have hard water, you absolutely must get a water softener. We had to suffer with hard water for a long time, and it was God awful. Blech.

We have really hard water in our area. I have been toying with the idea of getting a water softener but I think it’s finally time to just do it.

My inlaws have a water softener and it’s so nice! They live in IL. We are in Arizona and have hard water and have wondered if we should invest in a soft water system – I bet our skin would benefit from this.

I can definitely see this being a good option for us. My mom has always used a water softening system but I’ve never had one.

I like the inventory of water softening system since we often deal with hard, rusty and dirty water and it makes me so pissed.

Oh yes! We’ve always had hard water (even growing up), so I’m pretty used to it, however I don’t think I could ever go back to a home without a water softening system—not if I have hard water!

We continue to have one little tap faucet in our home that is not softened. We also have a filtration system on our refrigerator that allows us to drink water without a salty taste. There are definitely ways around the salt taste. πŸ™‚

I have been looking into getting a softening system myself. Hard water is such an issue at our house too. I ruined a garment steamer by using tap water in it and the hard water clogged it up. Thanks for sharing this!

Before we had our softening system we were always ruining things—our mop, refrigerator, clothing…the list goes on.

I’ve been considering a water softener myself lately for my home. I’ve showered in homes with softeners installed and I loved how the water felt. I’ll have to price them out and see if I can get one installed in my home pretty soon. Thanks for the awesome information!
