Have you thought about going on vacation, but you realize it isn’t going to be possible? Maybe it will cost too much, or you have work that you simply can’t get away from. Whatever the reason, we think that a staycation might be exactly what you need!

What is a Staycation?

Dictionary.com describes a staycation as: a vacation spent in one’s home country rather than abroad, or one spent at home and involving day trips to local attractions.

We couldn’t have described it better ourselves!

Why You Should Consider a Staycation:

  1. You can be a tourist in your own town or a town nearby, or maybe in your own state. You can visit places that you have heard others talk about, but you have yet to visit.
  2. Relax- Staycations are a great way to just get away for a bit and relax. You can clear your mind and enjoy time away from work and other obligations.
  3. Staying Close- If something does come up that you absolutely can’t ignore, you are still somewhat close to home and can easily take care of it and then get back to enjoying your little vacation.
  4. Saving $ on gas and other travel expenses. Since you are staying close to home you won’t spend near as much traveling. You also won’t have to stop as much for meals and so forth, ultimately saving you money.
  5. Less Fatigue- Since you won’t be riding in a car or on an airplane for hours, you will be more alert and awake when you arrive to your destination. This can definitely help your mood and the mood of anyone with you.
  6. Less or no packing. If you are staying super close to home you may not need to pack at all. If you are driving a bit away from home there may be a small amount of packing, but not near as much as you would expect if you were traveling a long distance for a long time.

Consider a Staycation Like These:

  • Camping at a local campground
  • Visiting Local Attractions
  • Visiting Local Restaurants
  • Staying in a Local Hotel with a pool
  • Hiking close to Home
  • Renting a nearby vacation home
