I always hate to see the weekend come to an end, but I must admit that I’m a little happy to see this weekend end. We had such a busy, hard working weekend, and I am ready to just sit back and relax for a change!
I’ll start off by telling you that we are officially DONE, yes I said it, DONE siding the house! Woohoo!!! It was a process and took up several weekends, but we did it and we saved ourselves so much money doing it ourselves. I must say though that without the help of my father in law and our wonderful neighbor it would have taken us a little longer. So thanks to you guys! (Although, I’m sure they are not reading my blog.)
We were invited to attend a wedding reception of a girl that I was best friends with in high school. We had lost touch for a while, as she moved to a nearby state and I guess we both started our families and were concentrating on that. I was SO excited the day that we reconnected on facebook! It really is a wonderful place to find old friends! I believe that a day hasn’t gone by since the first day we started talking on facebook that we haven’t talked. It’s great!
Anyways, I’m sorry, I sometimes get off track (ok, all of the time, but I’m sure you know that by now if you have been reading long.) There I go again! So, we get a call Friday from an appraisal company. We decided since we have done a lot of work to the house we would like to get a new appraisal. Although, we were actually thinking it would be another week or so. When they called on Friday they asked if they could come on Tuesday. I didn’t want to turn them down and then have to wait a long time to get them back in, so I agreed. I knew that was really pushing it, but we are having a birthday party for our 2nd child on Saturday and I wanted to get the house in order for that anyways, so I figured what the hey.
So Saturday morning my wonderful hubby decides to take the window out in the kitchen and replace it. We couldn’t get the siding done until the window was replaced. With the help of my father in law he was able to replace the window. However, we had a wedding reception to be at by 5:30 (which was the time supper was being served, so I really wanted to be there before that.) 6 o’clock rolls around and he is still working! It had rained off and on and he had to make a trip to the hardware store (I must say that Menards is like his second home!) I ended up feeding the kids and we got to the reception around 7. We still had a great time! The kids got to play with some of our neighbor boys that were there and I got to visit with my friend, who I must say was such a beautiful bride! The boys were off being boys with their friends. I’m sitting there at one point and I look over to see them holding water bottles out in front of them squeezing them pretending they are peeing! I’m honestly thinking, Oh no, these are my kids, and we are in public! But then I notice they are not the only ones doing it…ALL of the little boys are doing it, and it hits me…This is the kind of crazy thing that goes through a little boys mind, and those other mothers are not saying a word because they know as I do that boys will be boys!
Sunday we finished the siding and went to get the birthday present for our soon to be 6 year old. He picked out this new bike! He calls it his trickster bike because it has pegs on the back. He was so excited to get on it! Thankfully he hasn’t tried to ride it down the slide yet, or do his tricks off of the deck like they have done in the past. The boys also got a few more packs of trading cards for helping out around the house and helping Daddy side the house.
When we got back from the wedding reception the boys and Daddy played Star Wars for a little while in the yard before we all settled in. It was a pretty funny scene!
